Zubov out for at least a week

News: Stars coach Dave Tippett said Sunday that D Sergei Zubov (lower body) will be out for at least another week.
Analysis: Zubov has had two straight injury-plagued seasons and hasn't really been able to get going offensively in 2008-09. He has high-end Fantasy potential, but first Zubov has to get healthy. Leave him on your bench for Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 1-7) and hope this isn't another hip issue. Profile
Holik could practice Tuesday

News: The Bergen County Record reports that Devils C Bobby Holik (broken finger) could return to practice Tuesday if a visit to the doctor on Monday goes well.
Analysis: Holik will have missed over a month and a half once he does return, but he has minimal Fantasy value when healthy, so none of you should have missed him. Profile
Sutherby remains day-to-day

News: Ducks C Brian Sutherby, who has missed five games with a groin injury, remains day-to-day, according to the Orange County Register.
Analysis: Sutherby has three goals this season, but has showed very little offensive consistency in the past. Despite the strong start, he remains a low-end Fantasy option. Profile
Greene skating before practice

News: The Bergen County Record reports that Devils D Andy Greene (hand) skated before practice Monday and isn't far away from returning to full practice.
Analysis: Green showed some nice offensive potential before getting hurt earlier this season. Keep an eye on his numbers once he does return to the ice. Profile
Powe back in AHL

News: Flyers F Darroll Powe (concussion) has been given the all clear to begin playing again. He will resume his season in the AHL with the Phantoms.
Analysis: Powe is basically a fringe player with Philadelphia, so continue to ignore him in all formats. Profile
R. Niedermayer scores twice

News: Ducks RW Rob Niedermayer scored twice Sunday in a win over the Hurricanes. He now has five goals and two assists on the season.
Analysis: Niedermayer is more of a checking-line forward than anything with the Ducks, and barely has any Fantasy value. Continue to ignore him in all formats. Profile
Getzlaf has three-point night

News: Ducks C Ryan Getzlaf recorded a goal and two assists in Sunday's win over the Hurricanes. He now has an eight-game point streak and has at least one point in 17 of his last 18 games.
Analysis: Getzlaf had 19 points in 13 November games and is currently tied for third in the NHL with 31 points. Getzlaf is the top center on one of the NHL's best teams and a must-start Fantasy option through thick and thin. Profile
Selanne tallies 13th goal

News: Ducks RW Teemu Selanne scored his 13th goal of the season Sunday in a win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Selanne is getting most of his points on the power play, but as long as he is getting on the stat sheet, Selanne remains a must-start Fantasy center. Profile
Ryan already at plus-8
Bobby Ryan, RW ANA
News: Ducks rookie RW Bobby Ryan assisted in Sunday's win over the Hurricanes and now has a plus-8 rating and six points through seven games.
Analysis: The No. 2 overall pick from 2005, Ryan is off to a nice start in his rookie campaign. He has a lot of talent, but remains a low-end Fantasy reserve and long-term keeper at this time. Profile
Ward pulled for precautionary reasons

News: Hurricanes coach Peter Laviolette said the move to pull G Cam Ward on Sunday with a lower-body injury was a precautionary one. "We didn't want to risk any further injuries, so hopefully it's nothing that's long term," he said.
Analysis: Ward has allowed two or fewer goals in six of his last seven starts and has been playing a lot better after a rocky start. He is usually a reliable No. 2 Fantasy goalie when healthy, but remains an injury-risk start Week 9 (Dec. 1-7). The Hurricanes TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy option. Profile

Analysis: Petersen is just a lower-line forward with the Stars and has no Fantasy value at this time. Profile
Ribeiro scores third goal

News: Stars C Mike Ribeiro, who scored 27 goals last season, lit the lamp for only the third time in 2008-09 during Sunday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Ribeiro's goal-scoring has just completely dried up this season, but he's not the only one struggling in Dallas this season, so hopefully the team and Ribeiro's fortunes will improve soon. He remains a decent starting Fantasy forward in most formats, but he can't be relied upon for consistent stats every week. Profile
Modano gets two points from wing

News: Stars C Mike Modano, playing on the wing with a line including C Brad Richards and W Loui Eriksson, tallied a goal and an assist Sunday in a win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Modano had a nice October, but his pace slowed down in November a little. Still, that has to be expected from a 38-year-old guy. Modano remains a low-end Fantasy forward best left for deeper leagues. Profile
Brunnstrom plays only one shift

Analysis: Man, it seems like that first-game hat trick from Brunnstrom was more than just a couple of months ago. He has failed to produce much of anything since then and his value in seasonal formats is about zero right now. Profile
Eriksson extends point streak

News: Stars LW Loui Eriksson extended his point streak to five games Sunday with an assist in a win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Eriksson has three goals and four assists during his streak and is up to 19 points on the season. His offensive is coming around beautifully, and it has given the Stars another reliable offensive weapon. He is getting plenty of scoring chances and is quickly picking up Fantasy steam. Consider him a nice low-end starting forward in deeper leagues for the time being. Profile
Richards stays hot Sunday
Brad Richards, C DAL
News: Stars C Brad Richards assisted twice Sunday in a win over the Oilers. He finished November with 13 points in 12 contests.
Analysis: Richards is firmly entrenched as the second-line center behind Mike Ribeiro, but Richards is used to the role after backing up Vincent Lecavalier in Tampa Bay. He is still a consistent point-producer and decent No. 3 Fantasy forward. Profile
